Algae Bio-Futures Game
Year: 2024
Role: Workshop Designer, Systems Thinking Facilitator
Collaborator: Jordan Murray
For: EIT Food, Cambridge University Plant Science Department
This ideation game was co-developed for an EIT Food workshop at Cambridge University’s Plant Science Department to introduce speculative thinking in food systems innovation. Adapted from the ‘Thing from the Future’ by Situation Lab, the game invites participants to explore future scenarios by combining four prompt types: Horizon, Change Driver, SCAMPER method, and Concept. It enabled interdisciplinary teams to creatively rethink ingredients and food products in response to socio-environmental disruptions. Designed for accessibility and engagement, the tool simplified complex foresight methods into a playful, repeatable format for early-stage idea generation.
